Wrestlers Capture Sectional Championship
Qualify 10 for Districts
The Husky wrestling team crowned 6 individual champions and 4 more garnered runner-up finishes in capturing the Class 1A sectional championship at Riceville. The Huskies totaled up 259 team points. Rockford finished in second place with 142 team points.
Sectional champions were 103 pounder Blake Dietz, 112 pounder Garrett Bellinger, 125 pounder Kyler Deutsch, 140 pounder Taylor Wedeking, 145 pounder Matthew Dettmer and 285 pounder Caleb Wilken. Runners-up were Andy Glaser at 152 pounds, Jacob Frost at 160 pounds, Clinton Deutsch at 171 pounds and Daniel Theilen at 189 pounds. These wrestlers advance to districts to be held Saturday, February 13th at Parkersburg. Wrestling starts at 12:00 pm.
The Huskies also advance in the dual team tournament. They will wrestle Sumner-Fredericksburg at Nashua on Tuesday, February 9th. That meet starts at 6:00 pm. In the other half, Rockford will take on South Winn. The two winners will face each other for a spot in the dual state tournament to be held in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, February 27th.

If another day is missed between now and March 18th due to bad weather, Friday, March 19th will be used as a make-up day. Right now, there will be no school on March 19th.

State Wrestling Tickets
Nashua-Plainfield wrestling fans - Heading to the state wrestling tournament in Des Moines? The school will have Thursday morning's 1st round tickets on sale in the high school office. Avoid the lines at the ticket booth at the Wells Fargo Arena by buying your tickets from the school. Cost of the tickets is $8.00. The school receives 25¢ for every ticket we sell. We will have only 100 tickets available to sell. Stop in or call the high school office to reserve your ticket.
Those people with advance tickets can enter the Wells Fargo Arena through the main entrance on the south side, off Crocker Street on the north side, or through the skywalk in order to expedite entrance to the arena for all sessions. Anyone needing to purchase a ticket upon arrival must enter through the main entrance, on the south side.
In a cost-saving effort, NP Schools is now publishing the monthly Husky Hotline newsletter electronically and emailing it to those that have supplied their email address. It will also be available on the school website by clicking on the Husky Hotline link above. If you desire to have a printed paper copy of the hotline mailed to you, contact the superintendents office.

When we receive your sign-up form, we will be sending you a packet of information along with a checklist of paperwork that will need to be returned to us on the day of Kdg. Round-up on March 8 or 9.
